Patrons Officers The Society was founded in October 2000 to promote interest in the Northumbrian Jacobites, principally those who took part in the Rising of 1715 (The Fifteen), led by James Radcliffe, 3rd Earl of Derwentwater, his brother the Hon. Charles Radcliffe, William, 4th Baron Widdrington, and Thomas Forster, MP. A particular aim of the Society is to generate a wider awareness of the historic buildings of Dilston Castle and Chapel, and other Jacobite memorials in the North-east of England. In so far as it is able, the Society will co-operate with like-minded organisations to help preserve these buildings and monuments. A further goal of the Society is to see a Heritage and Study Centre established at Dilston, which would naturally include subjects of Jacobite history and interest. The Society is non-political and non-denominational; it is entirely an historical and social organisation. A programme of occasional talks, visits, events and social activities, including a Society Dinner, will be arranged annually, and Members will receive the Society’s Journal, The Fifteen, and regular newsletters. The web-site www.northumbrianjacobites.org.uk carries information about the Society. Applications to become Members of the Society are welcomed from all those who share an interest in this important aspect of Northumbrian history. The annual subscription is £10 for individuals, £14 for joint (2 Members at the same address) and £15 for institutional Members. If you wish to receive more information
